It is Thursday morning as I am writing this and I’m definitely glad that the weekend is fast approaching. Although I try to live in the moment, especially when writing, I look forward to weekends because it is the two days of the week when I get to actually spend time with my husband. With us working different times we only get brief moments and texts during the week. This is one reason weekends are typically off limit for my writing. I use these days to recharge not only my relationship but also my writing brain. I know that most writers say that you need to write everyday, but I feel that without these breaks, I end up burning out on projects. This doesn’t mean that ideas aren’t scribbled in my notebook, but I don’t focus my time on projects.
Yesterday was a very productive day on my writing. Although I only got a little over 500 words actually typed, I got a lot accomplished. But I also didn’t get everything on my list done. My novel Enchanted Objects was pushed to the back burner since my head was flowing with ideas for my outline I am doing for a client. That is okay. Maybe today will be the day that Enchanted Objects decides to take over.
If you have read any of my previous posts, you will see that I suffer from migraines. The weather has a big part in triggering them. The heat yesterday was starting to take it’s toll last night and this morning there is a migraine lurking. No surprise when I checked the weather forecast for the day and it says thunderstorms are coming. I’ve taken my meds and kept this in mind as I planned my day.
As you will see, my Steve project isn’t on my list. I haven’t received payment for the previous novel I wrote and have decided that until I get the chance to correspond with the client, this project is put on hold.

- Enchanted objects – continue brainstorming characters and ideas.

Blog post
Finished up the blog post from yesterday and published it. Started work on today’s and will keep it going throughout the day in order to make sure I am updating everything as I get it accomplished.
Sandra – fill out five boxes on grid
This project has really taken hold of me these past two days. I didn’t even get my to do list written out this morning and ideas for the story were running through my head. It shouldn’t be too hard to get the five boxes filled out.
It took me a while, but late in the evening, I finally got to work on filling out the grid for this outline. I ended up with 11 boxes in total. I don’t know if it was the brainstorming for the previous day or not, but it took me no time to fill it out. Tomorrow I will look at it again and see if there needs to be any changes, but right now I am happy with the progress.
Enchanted Objects – brainstorm
The migraine didn’t interfere with this today. I made it a point to start with this project since I didn’t do anything on it yesterday. It paid off since I got the characters completed and also came up with a fantastic opening scene.
Basically my series will be about the Paranormal Object Retrieval Network. Yep, the acronym for it will be PORN and I plan to have a lot of fun with that. The people of PORN aren’t there willingly. They become a part of the unit as a punishment for a crime they had commented. The more objects they retrieve the less time they have to be with the unit. And the Paranormal Court isn’t too forgiving for mistakes either, adding more time on the unit. The groups never know where they stand and after each retrieval they have to go before the court to see if they are able to be released or not. This meeting will be the ending to every book.
The series will focus on Nicole who didn’t know she was a witch until vampires made her cast a spell to release the Mirror Man. The spell didn’t work completely and instead of coming back, he can only be released into other paranormal’s bodies. The Court doesn’t care that she was forced to do it and she is assigned to PORN with her first case being to retrieve the mirror with the Mirror Man.
There is a group of characters ranging from a succubus to a male fairy, all needing to work together to achieve each book’s object. Each one has their own issues and some will leave and new ones will be added as the series goes. There will be humor in the book as well as serious matters since they are each dealing with their own demons.
That was my basic idea and today I came up with the perfect opening and some additional information. It feels great!
During the day, I had some free time and started searching on Pinterest for ideas for a planner. I have been using OneNote, but discovered that there are times when I still wrote things down. Then I would have to wait for the program to load in order to include it on OneNote. I wanted something that would be in a written form instead of digital. After searching and searching, I finally came across a planner, which basically is like what I already use my writing notebook for except you create pages where you put your list of things to do. It’s called Bullet Journal. Here is the website I found: bulletjournal.com.
I spent a great deal of time in the evening going over ways to just add this to my writing notebook and I think I found a way. The thing I like the most is how you create an index of the items which you have put into your journal. This way you can just look at your index to find things you want. Maybe at a later date I will post how I set mine up, especially since I haven’t completely settled on the final set up.
